أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هَمَّامٍ الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ شُجَاعٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَيَّاشِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَحَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِلَالٍ أَنَّ عَيَّاشَ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ حَدَّثَهُمْ عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ هِلَالٍ الصَّدَفِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو

أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَقْرِئْنِي الْقُرْآنَ قَالَ «اقْرَأْ ثَلَاثًا مِنْ ذَوَاتِ الر» قَالَ الرَّجُلُ كَبُرَ سِنِّي وَثَقُلَ لِسَانِي وَغَلُظَ قَلْبِي قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «اقْرَأْ ثَلَاثًا مِنْ ذَوَاتِ حم» فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ وَلَكِنْ أَقْرِئْنِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ سُورَةً جَامِعَةً فَأَقْرَأَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ {إِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ الْأَرْضُ} حَتَّى بَلَغَ {مَنْ يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُ وَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرًّا يَرَهُ} قَالَ الرَّجُلُ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ مَا أُبَالِي أَنْ لَا أَزِيدَ عَلَيْهَا حَتَّى أَلْقَى اللَّهَ وَلَكِنْ

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, teach me to recite the Quran." He said, "Recite three of the surahs that begin with alif-lam-ra." The man said, "I have become old, my tongue is heavy, and my heart is coarse." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Recite three of the surahs that begin with ha-mim." The man said the same thing, "But teach me, O Messenger of Allah, a comprehensive surah." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught him: "When the earth is shaken..." until he reached: "So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it." The man said, "By the One who sent you with the truth, I do not care if I never add to it until I meet Allah, but..."
