✧ The admonition to prevent reliance on the writings of a person without preserving them

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ بِالْبَصْرَةِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَهْلِ بْنِ عَسْكَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَيُّوبَ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ

«لَا تَعَلَّمُوا الْعِلْمَ لِتُبَاهُوا بِهِ الْعُلَمَاءَ وَلَا تُمَارُوا بِهِ السُّفَهَاءَ وَلَا تَخَيَّرُوا بِهِ الْمَجَالِسَ فَمَنْ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ فَالنَّارَ النَّارَ»

✧ "Do not learn knowledge to vie with the scholars, nor to argue with the foolish, nor to gain preeminence in gatherings. Whoever does that, then the Fire, the Fire!"
