machine translationSālim and Nāfiʿ differed concerning it from Ibn ʿUmar. Abū Qilābah narrated it from Sālim, from his father, from the Prophet ﷺ, and none narrated it from him except Yaḥyā b. Abī Kathīr, from whom al-Awzāʿī, ʿAlī b. al-Mubārak, al-Ḥajjāj b. al-Ḥajjāj, Ḥarb b. Shaddād and Abān al-ʿAṭṭār related it. ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿUmar narrated it from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, from Kaʿb al-Aḥbār as his own saying. It is said that the preserved (maḥfūẓ) version is the saying of Nāfiʿ.

machine translationNāfiʿ narrated it from Ibn ʿUmar, and Sālim and Nāfiʿ differed concerning it from Ibn ʿUmar. Sālim said: from his father, from the Prophet ﷺ. Nāfiʿ said: from Ibn ʿUmar, from Kaʿb, as his own saying. Sālim is of higher standing than Nāfiʿ, yet the narration of Nāfiʿ is more likely to be correct.
