أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُبَيْلٍ عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ

لَمَّا دَنَوْتُ مِنْ مَدِينَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَخْتُ رَاحِلَتِي وَحَلَلْتُ عَيْبَتِي فَلَبِسْتُ حُلَّتِي فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَرَمَانِي النَّاسُ بِالْحَدَقِ فَقُلْتُ لِجَلِيسِي يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ هَلْ ذَكَرُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنْ أَمْرِي شَيْئًا؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ ذَكَرَكَ بِأَحْسَنِ الذِّكْرِ بَيْنَمَا هُوَ يَخْطُبُ إِذْ عَرَضَ لَهُ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ فَقَالَ «إِنَّهُ سَيَدْخُلُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ هَذَا الْبَابِ أَوْ مِنْ هَذَا الْفَجِّ مِنْ خَيْرِ ذِي يَمَنٍ وَإِنَّ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ مَسْحَةَ مَلَكٍ» فَحَمِدْتُ اللَّهَ عَلَى مَا أَبْلَانِي

✧ When I drew near to the city of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I made my mount kneel, untied my saddlebag, put on my suit, and entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was delivering a sermon. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ greeted me, and the people stared at me. I said to my companion, "O ʿAbd Allah, did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mention anything about me?" He said, "Yes, he mentioned you in the best way. While he was delivering a sermon, it occurred to him in his sermon, and he said, 'There will enter upon you from this door, or from this mountain pass, one of the best of the people of Yemen, and upon his face is the touch of an angel.'" So I praised Allah for what He had bestowed upon me.

    machine translationIbn ʿUyaynah narrated it from Ismāʿīl, from Qays, from Jarīr. ʿĪsā b. Yūnus corroborated him, in the narration of Hāshim b. ʿUmar al-Ḥimṣī, known as Shaqrān, from him. Marwān al-Fazārī and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Maghrāʾ narrated it from Ismāʿīl b. Abī Khālid, from Abū Isḥāq al-Sabīʿī, who said: "It was narrated to me from the Prophet ﷺ." Yūnus b. Abī Isḥāq narrated it from al-Mughīrah b. Shubayl, from Jarīr, and this is the correct one.
