✧ "I was sitting in a circle in the mosque of Madinah, in which there was an old man of good appearance, who was Abdullah b. Salam. He narrated to them a good hadith. When he stood up, the people said, 'Whoever would like to look at a man from the people of Paradise, let him look at this man.' I said, 'By Allah, I will follow him and learn his house.' I followed him until he was about to leave Madinah, then entered his house. I asked permission and he allowed me. He said, 'What do you need, O son of my brother?' I said, 'I heard the people say when you stood up, "Whoever would like to look at a man from the people of Paradise, let him look at this man," and I was pleased to be with you.' He said, 'Allah knows best who the people of Paradise are. I will tell you why they said that. While I was sleeping, a man came to me and said, "Get up." He took me by the hand and I went with him. I saw a wide road on my left, and I wanted to take it, but he said, "Do not take it, for it is the path of the people of the left." Then I saw a clear wide road on my right, and he said, "Take this one." He brought me to a mountain and said, "Climb this." When I tried to climb, I fell on my backside; I did that several times. Then he went on until he brought me to a pillar whose top was in the sky and bottom in the earth, and at its top was a ring. He said, "Climb this." I said, "How can I climb it when its top is in the sky?" He took me by the hand and pushed me, and I found myself clinging to the ring. Then he struck the pillar and it fell, and I remained clinging to the ring until morning. I came to the Prophet ﷺ and told him the dream. He said, "The road you saw on your left is the path of the people of the left; the road on your right is the path of the people of the right; the mountain is the stations of the martyrs, which you will not attain; the pillar is the pillar of Islam; the ring is the firm handhold of Islam, and you will keep holding to it until you die."'"
