أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ الصُّوفِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نَصْرٍ التَّمَّارُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

أَتَى رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ لِفُلَانٍ نَخْلَةً وَأَنَا أُقِيمُ حَائِطِي بِهَا فَمُرْهُ يُعْطِينِي أُقِيمُ بِهَا حَائِطِي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَعْطِهِ إِيَّاهَا بِنَخْلَةٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ» فَأَبَى فَأَتَاهُ أَبُو الدَّحْدَاحِ فَقَالَ بِعْنِي نَخْلَتَكَ بِحَائِطِي فَفَعَلَ فَأَتَى أَبُو الدَّحْدَاحِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي قَدِ ابْتَعْتُ النَّخْلَةَ بِحَائِطِي وَقَدْ أَعْطَيْتُكُهَا فَاجْعَلْهَا لَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «كَمْ مِنْ عِذْقٍ دَوَّاحٍ لِأَبِي الدَّحْدَاحِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ» مِرَارًا فَأَتَى أَبُو الدَّحْدَاحِ امْرَأَتَهُ فَقَالَ يَا أُمَّ الدَّحْدَاحِ اخْرُجِي مِنَ الْحَائِطِ فَقَدْ بِعْتُهُ بِنَخْلَةٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَتْ رَبِحَ السِّعْرُ

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, so-and-so has a date palm, and I am building a wall around my garden with it. Order him to give it to me so that I can complete my wall." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Give it to him in return for a date palm in Paradise." He refused. Abu al-Dahdah came to him and said, "Sell me your date palm for my garden." He did so. Abu al-Dahdah came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have bought the date palm with my garden, and I give it to you; make it for him." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "How many large clusters will Abu al-Dahdah have in Paradise!" repeating it several times. Abu al-Dahdah went to his wife and said, "O Umm al-Dahdah, leave the garden, for I have sold it for a date palm in Paradise." She said, "You have profited from the transaction."
