أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ ابْنُ بَهْدَلَةَ عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ

أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ كَانَ يَحْتَزُّ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ سِوَاكًا مِنْ أَرَاكٍ وَكَانَ فِي سَاقَيْهِ دِقَّةٌ فَضَحِكَ الْقَوْمُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَا يُضْحِكُكُمْ مِنْ دِقَّةِ سَاقَيْهِ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهُمَا أَثْقَلُ فِي الْمِيزَانِ مِنْ أُحُدٍ»

✧ Abdullah b. Masud used to cut siwak for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from arak trees, and his legs were thin. The people laughed, so the Prophet ﷺ said: “What makes you laugh at the thinness of his legs? By the One in whose hand is my soul, they are heavier in the Balance than Mount Uhud.”
