✧ ʿAli proposed to the daughter of Abu Jahl, and that reached Fatimah. She went to Rasulillah ﷺ and said, 'The people claim that you do not get angry for your daughters, and here is ʿAli marrying the daughter of Abu Jahl.' Al-Miswar said, 'I witnessed him ﷺ when he pronounced the testimony of faith, praised Allah, and extolled Him. Then he said, "To proceed: I married my daughter to Abu al-ʿAs, and he spoke to me and was truthful to me. Indeed, Fatimah is a part of me, and by Allah, the daughter of Rasulillah ﷺ and the daughter of the enemy of Allah will never be united with one Muslim man." So ʿAli desisted from the proposal.'
