أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو شَيْبَةَ دَاوُدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ دَاوُدَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ بِالْفُسْطَاطِ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَعْلَى الْأَسْلَمِيُّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

جَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَعَدَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ عَلِمْتَ مُنَاصَحَتِي وَقِدَمِي فِي الْإِسْلَامِ وَإِنِّي وَإِنِّي قَالَ «وَمَا ذَاكَ؟ » قَالَ تُزَوِّجُنِي فَاطِمَةَ قَالَ فَسَكَتَ عَنْهُ فَرَجَعَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ إِلَى عُمَرَ فَقَالَ لَهُ قَدْ هَلَكْتُ وَأُهْلِكْتُ قَالَ وَمَا ذَاكَ؟ قَالَ خَطَبْتُ فَاطِمَةَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي قَالَ مَكَانَكَ حَتَّى آتِيَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَطْلُبُ مِثْلَ الَّذِي طَلَبْتَ فَأَتَى عُمَرُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَعَدَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ عَلِمْتَ مُنَاصَحَتِي وَقِدَمِي فِي الْإِسْلَامِ وَإِنِّي وَإِنِّي قَالَ «وَمَا ذَاكَ؟ » قَالَ تُزَوِّجُنِي فَاطِمَةَ فَسَكَتَ عَنْهُ فَرَجَعَ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ إِنَّهُ يَنْتَظِرُ أَمْرَ اللَّهِ فِيهَا قُمْ بِنَا إِلَى عَلِيٍّ حَتَّى نَأْمُرَهُ يَطْلُبُ مِثْلَ الَّذِي طَلَبْنَا قَالَ عَلِيٌّ فَأَتَيَانِي وَأَنَا أُعَالِجُ فَسِيلًا لِي فَقَالَا إِنَّا جِئْنَاكَ مِنْ عِنْدِ ابْنِ عَمِّكِ بِخِطْبَةٍ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ فَنَبَّهَانِي لِأَمْرٍ فَقُمْتُ أَجُرُّ رِدَائِي حَتَّى أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَعَدْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ عَلِمْتَ قِدَمِي فِي الْإِسْلَامِ وَمُنَاصَحَتِي وَإِنِّي وَإِنِّي قَالَ «وَمَا ذَاكَ؟ » قُلْتُ تُزَوِّجُنِي فَاطِمَةَ قَالَ «وَعِنْدَكَ شَيْءٌ» قُلْتُ فَرَسِي وَبَدَنِي قَالَ «أَمَّا فَرَسُكَ فَلَا بُدَّ لَكَ مِنْهُ وَأَمَّا بَدَنُكَ فَبِعْهَا» قَالَ فَبِعْتُهَا بِأَرْبَعِ مِائَةٍ وَثَمَانِينَ فَجِئْتُ بِهَا حَتَّى وَضَعْتُهَا فِي حِجْرِهِ فَقَبَضَ مِنْهَا قَبْضَةً فَقَالَ «أَيْ بِلَالُ ابْتَغِنَا بِهَا طِيبًا» وَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يُجَهِّزُوهَا فَجَعَلَ لَهَا سَرِيرًا مُشْرَطًا بِالشَّرْطِ وَوِسَادَةً مِنْ أَدَمٍ حَشْوُهَا لِيفٌ وَقَالَ لِعَلِيٍّ «إِذَا أَتَتْكَ فَلَا تُحْدِثْ شَيْئًا حَتَّى آتِيَكَ» فَجَاءَتْ مَعَ أُمِّ أَيْمَنَ حَتَّى قَعَدَتْ فِي جَانِبِ الْبَيْتِ وَأَنَا فِي جَانِبٍ وَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «هَا هُنَا أَخِي؟ » قَالَتْ أُمُّ أَيْمَنَ أَخُوكَ وَقَدْ زَوَّجْتَهُ ابْنَتَكَ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» وَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْبَيْتَ فَقَالَ لِفَاطِمَةَ «إِيتِينِي بِمَاءٍ» فَقَامَتْ إِلَى قَعْبٍ فِي الْبَيْتِ فَأَتَتْ فِيهِ بِمَاءٍ فَأَخَذَهُ ﷺ وَمَجَّ فِيهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهَا «تَقَدَّمِي» فَتَقَدَّمَتْ فَنَضَحَ بَيْنَ ثَدْيَيْهَا وَعَلَى رَأْسِهَا وَقَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُعِيذُهَا بِكَ وَذُرِّيَّتَهَا مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ» ثُمَّ قَالَ ﷺ لَهَا «أَدْبِرِي» فَأَدْبَرَتْ فَصَبَّ بَيْنَ كَتِفَيْهَا وَقَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُعِيذُهَا بِكَ وَذُرِّيَّتَهَا مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ» ثُمَّ قَالَ ﷺ «إِيتُونِي بِمَاءٍ» قَالَ عَلِيٌّ فَعَلِمْتُ الَّذِي يُرِيدُ فَقُمْتُ فَمَلَأْتُ الْقَعْبَ مَاءً وَأَتَيْتُهُ بِهِ فَأَخَذَهُ وَمَجَّ فِيهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي «تَقَدَّمْ» فَصَبَّ عَلَى رَأْسِي وَبَيْنَ ثَدْيَيَّ ثُمَّ قَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُعِيذُهُ بِكَ وَذُرِّيَّتَهُ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَدْبِرْ» فَأَدْبَرْتُ فَصَبَّهُ بَيْنَ كَتِفَيَّ وَقَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُعِيذُهُ بِكَ وَذُرِّيَّتَهُ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ» ثُمَّ قَالَ لِعَلِيٍّ «ادْخُلْ بِأَهْلِكَ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَالْبَرَكَةِ»

✧ Abu Bakr came to the Prophet ﷺ and sat before him, then said, "O Messenger of Allah, you know my sincerity and my precedence in Islam, and I... and I..." He said, "And what is that?" He said, "Marry Fāṭimah to me." He said: He remained silent, so Abu Bakr returned to 'Umar and said to him, "I have perished and caused ruin." He said, "And what is that?" He said, "I proposed to Fāṭimah to the Prophet ﷺ, and he turned away from me." He said, "Stay where you are until I go to the Prophet ﷺ and ask for the same as you did." So 'Umar came to the Prophet ﷺ and sat before him, then said, "O Messenger of Allah, you know my sincerity and my precedence in Islam, and I... and I..." He said, "And what is that?" He said, "Marry Fāṭimah to me." He remained silent, so he returned to Abu Bakr and said to him, "He is waiting for Allah's command regarding her. Come with us to 'Ali so that we may order him to ask for the same as we asked." 'Ali said: They came to me while I was tending a young palm of mine, and they said, "We have come to you from your cousin's presence with a proposal." 'Ali said: They drew my attention to a matter, so I arose dragging my cloak until I came to the Prophet ﷺ and sat before him. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, you know my precedence in Islam and my sincerity, and I... and I..." He said, "And what is that?" I said, "Marry Fāṭimah to me." He said, "Do you have anything?" I said, "My horse and my body armor." He said, "As for your horse, you cannot do without it; and as for your body armor, sell it." He said: I sold it for four hundred and eighty, and I brought the money and placed it in his lap. He took a handful from it and said, "O Bilal, buy us perfume with this," and he ordered them to prepare her. He made for her a bed woven with palm leaves and a leather cushion stuffed with palm fiber. He said to 'Ali, "When she comes to you, do not do anything until I come to you." She came with Umm Ayman and sat in one side of the house, and I in another side. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and said, "Is my brother here?" Umm Ayman said, "He is your brother, and you have married your daughter to him?" He said, "Yes." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the house and said to Fāṭimah, "Bring me water." She went to a large wooden bowl in the house and brought water in it. He took it ﷺ and put some of his saliva in it, then said to her, "Come forward." She came forward, and he sprinkled water between her breasts and on her head and said, "O Allah, I seek refuge in You for her and her offspring from the accursed Satan." Then he ﷺ said to her, "Turn around." She turned, and he poured water between her shoulders and said, "O Allah, I seek refuge in You for her and her offspring from the accursed Satan." Then he ﷺ said, "Bring me water." 'Ali said: I knew what he wanted, so I rose, filled the bowl with water, and brought it to him. He took it and put some of his saliva in it, then said to me, "Come forward." He poured water on my head and between my breasts, then said, "O Allah, I seek refuge in You for him and his offspring from the accursed Satan." Then he said, "Turn around." I turned, and he poured it between my shoulders and said, "O Allah, I seek refuge in You for him and his offspring from the accursed Satan." Then he said to 'Ali, "Enter upon your wife in the name of Allah and with blessing."
