✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day of Khaybar: "I shall surely give the banner today to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah will grant victory through him." 'Umar said: "I never desired command except on that day, and I stretched my neck for it." Then he said to 'Ali: "Stand up." He handed the banner to him, then said: "Go and do not turn around until Allah grants you victory." He walked a little, then stood without turning around because of the command. He said: "On what basis shall I fight the people?" The Prophet ﷺ said: "Fight them until they testify that there is no god but Allah. If they say it, then they have protected their blood and their wealth from you except by its right, and their reckoning is with Allah."
