✧ Zayd b. Thabit came out from Marwan's presence at midday. He said: I said, 'He did not send for him at this hour except for something he asked him about.' So I asked him, and he said: 'He asked us about things we heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "May Allah brighten [the face of] a man who hears a hadith from us and conveys it to another, for perhaps a bearer of fiqh conveys it to one who has more fiqh than him, and perhaps a bearer of fiqh is not a faqih. Three things the heart of a Muslim never bears malice over: sincerity in action for Allah, giving good counsel to those in authority, and holding fast to the community, for their supplication surrounds what is behind them. Whoever has the world as his intention, Allah scatters his affairs for him and places his poverty before his eyes, and nothing of the world comes to him except what has been decreed for him. Whoever has the Hereafter as his intention, Allah gathers his affairs for him and places his wealth in his heart, and the world comes to him while it is compelled."
