✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us with a staff in his hand while clusters of dates were hanging in the mosque, one of them containing inferior dry dates. He poked that cluster with the staff and said: “If the owner of this charity had wished, he could have given better than it. The owner of this charity will eat the inferior dates on the Day of Resurrection.” Then he turned to us and said: “By Allah, O people of Madinah, you will certainly leave it to the beasts. Do you know what the beasts are?” We said: “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He said: “The birds and the wild animals.”
