Tribulations and Incidents in the Ummah of the Prophet ﷺ

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ رُفَيْعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقِبْطِيَّةِ قَالَ

انْطَلَقْتُ أَنَا وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَفْوَانَ وَالْحَارِثُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ حَتَّى دَخَلْنَا عَلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَقَالُوا يَا أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ أَلَا تُحَدِّثِينَا عَنِ الْخَسْفِ الَّذِي يُخْسَفُ بِالْقَوْمِ؟ قَالَتْ بَلَى قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «يَعُوذُ عَائِذٌ بِالْبَيْتِ فَيُبْعَثُ إِلَيْهِ بَعْثٌ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانُوا بِبَيْدَاءَ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ خُسِفَ بِهِمْ» قَالَتْ قُلْتُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ مَنْ كَانَ كَارِهًا؟ قَالَ «يُخْسَفُ مَعَهُمْ وَلَكِنَّهُ يُبْعَثُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى مَا كَانَ فِي نَفْسِهِ»

✧ I went with Abdullah b. Safwan and al-Harith b. Rabi'ah until we entered upon Umm Salamah. They said, "O Umm Salamah, will you not narrate to us about the sinking that will swallow the people?" She said, "Yes. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'A seeker of refuge will seek refuge at the House, and an expedition will be sent against him. When they are in a desert of the land, they will be swallowed up.'" She said, "I said, 'O Prophet of Allah, what about one who was unwilling?' He said, 'He will be swallowed up with them, but he will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection according to what was in his heart.'"

    يرويه عمار الدهني عن سالم بن أبي الجعد عن عبد الله بن شداد أن حفصة أو أم سلمة قالت عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ورواه عبد الله بن الأجلح عن عمار ورواه عبد الملك بن ميسرة عن يوسف بن ماهك عن عبد الله بن صفوان وأسنده عن عائشة والحديث معروف عن أم سلمة رواه عنها عبيد الله ابن القبطية ومن قدمنا ذكره معه ورواه أيضا المعرور بن سويد وسالم بن صفوان عن أم سلمة

    machine translationʿAmmār al-Duhnī narrates it from Sālim b. Abī al-Jaʿd, from ʿAbdullāh b. Shaddād, that Ḥafṣah or Umm Salamah said, from the Prophet ﷺ. ʿAbdullāh b. al-Ajlaḥ narrated it from ʿAmmār. ʿAbd al-Malik b. Maysarah narrated it from Yūsuf b. Māhak, from ʿAbdullāh b. Ṣafwān, and he traced it back (to the Prophet) through ʿĀʾishah. The hadith is well known from Umm Salamah: ʿUbaydullāh b. al-Qibṭiyyah narrated it from her, along with those we mentioned before him. It was also narrated by al-Maʿrūr b. Suwayd and Sālim b. Ṣafwān from Umm Salamah.
