✧ Abu Talib fell ill, so Quraysh came to him, and the Prophet ﷺ came to visit him. At his head was a seat for one man, and Abu Jahl stood up and sat in it. They complained to Abu Talib about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, saying, “Your nephew reviles our gods.” He said, “What is the matter with your people, O nephew, that they complain about you?” He said, “O uncle, I only wanted from them one word by which the Arabs would submit to them and the non-Arabs would pay jizya to them.” He said, “And what is it?” He said, “There is no deity but Allah.” They stood up and said, “Has he made the gods one god? Indeed, this is a strange thing.” And the words were revealed: {Sad. By the Quran of remembrance} up to His saying {Indeed, this is a strange thing}.
