✧ I stayed with Abu Hashim b. 'Utbah b. Rabi'ah while he was ill with plague. Mu'awiyah came to visit him, and Abu Hashim wept. Mu'awiyah said, "What makes you weep, O uncle? Is it pain, or is it over this world? Its clear enjoyment has departed." He said, "Not over any of that. But the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave me a charge, and I wish I had followed it. He said: 'Perhaps you will attain wealth that is distributed among people, and it will suffice you from that a servant and a mount in the way of Allah.' I attained it and gathered [wealth]."
