✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ used to enter upon Umm Ḥarām bt. Milḥān and she would feed him. Umm Ḥarām was married to ʿUbāda b. al-Ṣāmit. One day the Messenger of God ﷺ entered upon her and she fed him, then she sat delousing his head. The Messenger of God ﷺ fell asleep, then woke up laughing. She said: I said, 'What makes you laugh, O Messenger of God?' He said: 'People of my community were shown to me, raiders in the path of God, riding the crest of this sea, kings on thrones'—or 'like kings on thrones' (he was unsure which). She said: I said, 'O Messenger of God, pray to God to make me one of them.' So he prayed for her. Then he laid his head down and slept, then woke up laughing. She said: I said, 'What makes you laugh, O Messenger of God?' He said: 'People of my community were shown to me, raiders in the path of God,' as he said the first time. She said: I said, 'O Messenger of God, pray to God to make me one of them.' He said: 'You are of the first ones.' So Umm Ḥarām rode the sea in the time of Muʿāwiya b. Abī Sufyān, and she fell from her mount when she came out of the sea and died.
