✧ Ḍimād came to Makkah from Azd Shanū’a, and he used to treat possession by wind. He heard the foolish ones of the people of Makkah saying that Muhammad was insane. He said, 'If I were to see this man, perhaps Allah would cure him at my hands.' He met him and said, 'O Muhammad, I treat possession by wind, and Allah cures at my hands whom He wills. Will you?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Indeed, praise belongs to Allah. We praise Him and seek His help. Whoever Allah guides, none can lead astray, and whoever He leads astray, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and His messenger. To proceed.' He said, 'Repeat to me these words of yours.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ repeated them to him three times. He said, 'I have heard the words of soothsayers, the words of sorcerers, and the words of poets, but I have never heard the like of these words of yours. Give me your hand that I may pledge allegiance to you upon Islam.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'And upon your people?' He said, 'And upon my people.' He pledged allegiance to him. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a raiding party, and they passed by his people. The leader of the raiding party said to the army, 'Did you take anything from these people?' A man from the people said, 'I took from them a water container.' He said, 'Return it, for these are the people of Ḍimād.'"
