✧ ʿĀ’isha said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Has any day come upon you more severe than the day of Uḥud?" He said, "I suffered from your people, and the most severe of what I suffered from them was the day of al-ʿAqaba, when I presented myself to Ibn ʿAbd Yālīl b. ʿAbd Kulāl, and he did not respond to what I wanted. I went away distressed, with my face down. I raised my head and saw a cloud shading me. I looked and in it was Jibrīl ﷺ. He called me and said, 'Allah has heard what your people said to you and how they rejected you. He has sent the Angel of the Mountains to you, so command what you wish concerning them.' The Angel of the Mountains called me, greeted me, then said, 'O Muhammad, Allah has heard what your people said to you. I am the Angel of the Mountains, and your Lord has sent me to you so that you may order me as you wish. If you wish, I will collapse the two rugged mountains upon them.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Rather, I hope that Allah will bring forth from their loins those who worship Allah alone, associating nothing with Him.'"
