✧ "There was a man among the Children of Israel who used to lend money to people. A man came to him and said, 'O so-and-so, lend me six hundred dinars.' He said, 'Yes, if you bring me an agent.' He said, 'Allah is my agent.' He said, 'Glory be to Allah. Yes, I have accepted Allah as an agent.' So he gave him six hundred dinars and set a term for him. He traveled by sea with the money to trade with it. Allah decreed that the term arrived while the sea was stormy between them. The owner of the money kept coming to the shore asking about him. The one he asked about him said, 'We left him at such-and-such a place.' The owner of the money said, 'O Allah, compensate me for so-and-so for what I gave him for Your sake.' He said, 'And the one who owed the money went and carved out a piece of wood and placed the money inside it. Then he wrote a note: "From so-and-so to so-and-so: I have delivered your money to my agent." Then he sealed the mouth of the wood and threw it into the sea. It kept carrying it until it cast it onto the shore. The owner of the money went to the shore and asked, and he found the wood. He carried it and took it to his family and said, 'Use this for fuel.' They broke it open, and the dinars and the note scattered out. He took the note and read it and recognized it. Then the other one came, and the owner of the money said to him, 'My money?' He said, 'I delivered my money to my agent, to the one entrusted with me.' He said to him, 'Your agent has paid me in full.'" Abu Hurayrah said, "Indeed we saw that our disputes and clamor increased in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, among us, as to which of them would be delivered."
