أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الْحَفَرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ

«بَيْنَمَا رَجُلٌ يَسُوقُ بَقَرَةً فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَبَهَا فَالْتَفَتَتْ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّا لَمْ نُخْلَقْ لِهَذَا إِنَّمَا خُلِقْنَا لِيُحْرَثَ عَلَيْنَا فَقَالَ مَنْ حَوْلَهُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ ﷺ «آمَنْتُ بِهِ أَنَا وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ» وَمَا هُمَا ثَمَّ قَالَ «وَبَيْنَمَا رَجُلٌ فِي غَنَمٍ لَهُ فَأَخَذَ الذِّئْبُ الشَّاةَ فَتَبِعَهُ الرَّاعِي فَلَفَظَهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ كَيْفَ لَكَ بِيَوْمِ السِّبَاعِ حَيْثُ لَا يَكُونُ لَهَا رَاعٍ غَيْرِي» فَقَالَ مَنْ حَوْلَهُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ ﷺ » آمَنْتُ بِهِ أَنَا وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ « وَمَا هُمَا ثَمَّ

✧ "While a man was driving a cow and wanted to ride it, it turned to him and said, 'We were not created for this; we were only created for plowing.' Those around him said, 'Glory be to Allah.' He ﷺ said, 'I believe in it, and Abu Bakr and 'Umar,' while they were not there. He said, 'And while a man was among his sheep, a wolf took a sheep. The shepherd followed it, and it spat it out and then said, "How will you fare on the day of wild beasts, when there is no shepherd for them other than me?"' Those around him said, 'Glory be to Allah.' He ﷺ said, 'I believe in it, and Abu Bakr and 'Umar,' while they were not there."
