✧ A group of Jews entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, “Death be upon you.” The Prophet ﷺ said, “And upon you.” ʿAʾishah said: I understood it, so I said, “And upon you be death and the curse.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Take it easy, O ʿAʾishah. Indeed Allah loves gentleness in every matter.” I said, “O Messenger of Allah, did you not hear what they said?” He said, “I said, ‘And upon you.’”
