✧ I asked Sahl b. Saʿd al-Sāʿidī, 'Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ eat refined white bread?' Sahl said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never saw refined white bread from the time Allah sent him until He took him.' I said, 'Did you have sieves at the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' He said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never saw a sieve from the time Allah sent him until He took him.' I said, 'Then how did you eat barley un-sieved?' He said, 'Yes, we would blow on it, and whatever flew off from it flew away, and what remained we moistened and ate.'
