أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مَوْلَى ثَقِيفٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

مُطِرْنَا وَنَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَحَسَرَ عَنْ ثَوْبِهِ لِلْمَطَرِ قُلْنَا لِمَ صَنَعْتَ هَذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «إِنَّهُ حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِرَبِّهِ»

Translation

✧ We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and rain fell, and he bared part of his garment to the rain. We said: 'Why did you do this, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Because it has recently been with its Lord.'
