✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There is no contagion.' And he also related that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'A sick (animal) should not be brought to a healthy one.' Abu Salamah said: Abu Hurayrah used to narrate both of these from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then afterwards Abu Hurayrah became silent about his saying 'There is no contagion,' and he maintained that 'a sick (animal) should not be brought to a healthy one.' Al-Harith b. Abi Dhi'ab, who was the cousin of Abu Hurayrah, said: I used to hear you, O Abu Hurayrah, narrate to us along with this hadith another hadith which you have now stopped narrating. You used to say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There is no contagion.' Abu Hurayrah refused to acknowledge that and said: 'A sick (animal) should not be brought to a healthy one.' Abu Salamah said: By my life, Abu Hurayrah used to narrate to us that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There is no contagion.' I do not know whether Abu Hurayrah forgot or whether one of the two statements abrogated the other.
