✧ I entered the mosque of Damascus, and there was a young man with gleaming front teeth, and the people were with him; when they differed about something, they referred it to him and accepted his opinion. I asked about him and was told: This is Mu'adh b. Jabal. The next day I went early (to the mosque), and I found that he had preceded me in going early, and I found him praying. He said: So I waited for him until he finished his prayer, then I came to him from before his face, greeted him, and said: By Allah, I love you for the sake of Allah. He said: By Allah? I said: By Allah. So he took hold of the gathered end of my cloak, pulled me towards him, and said: Rejoice, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Allah, Blessed and Exalted, said: My love is due to those who love one another for My sake, sit together for My sake, and visit one another for My sake."
