أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الزُهْرِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ثَابِتٌ الزُّرَقِيُّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ
«إِنَّ الرِّيحَ مِنْ رَوْحِ اللَّهِ تَأْتِي بِالرَّحْمَةِ وَتَأْتِي بِالْعَذَابِ فَلَا تَسُبُّوهَا وَسَلُوا اللَّهَ مِنْ خَيْرِهَا وَاسْتَعِيذُوا بِاللَّهِ مِنْ شَرِّهَا»

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: The wind comes from Allah's mercy. Salamah's version has: It is Allah's mercy; it (sometimes) brings blessing and (sometimes) brings punishment. So when you see it, do not revile it, but ask Allah for some of its good, and seek refuge in Allah from its evil. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5097)

machine translationʿAlī b. Maʿbad b. Shaddād al-Miṣrī narrated it from Bishr b. Bakr from al-Awzāʿī from al-Zuhrī from Thābit al-Zuraqī from Abū Hurayrah from ʿUmar from the Prophet ﷺ, and he made an error (wahima) in it. The correct version is what the memorizers (ḥuffāẓ) narrated from al-Awzāʿī and the companions of al-Zuhrī, from al-Zuhrī from Thābit al-Zuraqī from Abū Hurayrah: that ʿUmar asked them about the wind, and Abū Hurayrah said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The wind is from the mercy of Allah (rawḥ Allāh)."
