✧ Killing Animals

أَخْبَرَنَا حَامِدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ الْبَلْخِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ يُونُسَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ

«اقْتُلُوا الْحَيَّاتِ وَذَا الطُّفْيَتَيْنِ وَالْأَبْتَرَ فَإِنَّهُمَا يَطْمِسَانِ الْبَصَرَ وَيُسْقِطَانِ الْحَبَلَ» وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَقْتُلُ الْحَيَّاتِ كُلَّهَا حَتَّى أَبْصَرَهُ أَبُو لُبَابَةَ يُطَارِدُ حَيَّةً فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ نَهَى عَنْ ذَوَاتِ الْبُيُوتِ

Translation

✧ Kill snakes and the one with two stripes and the short-tailed one, for they efface the sight and cause miscarriage. Abdullah used to kill all snakes until Abu Lubabah saw him chasing a snake and said: He forbade the house snakes.
