✧ Ibn ʿUmar, when he retired to his bed, would say: “O Allah, You created my soul and You take it. Yours is its death and its life. O Allah, if You take it, forgive it; and if You keep it alive, protect it. O Allah, I ask You for well-being.” A man from his children said to him: “Did ʿUmar used to say this?” He said: “Rather, one better than ʿUmar used to say it.” We thought he meant the Prophet ﷺ.
