أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ

كَانَ يَسْدِلُ شَعْرَهُ وَكَانَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ يَفْرُقُونَ رُءُوسَهُمْ وَكَانَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ يَسْدِلُونَ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُحِبُّ مُوَافَقَةَ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ فِيمَا لَمْ يَنْزِلْ عَلَيْهِ فَفَرَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ»

✧ He used to let his hair hang down, and the polytheists used to part their hair, while the People of the Book used to let it hang down. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ loved to agree with the People of the Book in matters about which nothing had been revealed to him, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ parted his hair.
