✧ «Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a statue.» I said, 'I will go to 'A'ishah and ask her about that.' So I came to her and said, 'O mother, this one narrated to me that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Angels do not enter a house in which there is a statue or a dog." Did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mention that?' She said, 'No, but I will tell you what I saw him do. He went out on one of his military expeditions, and I was awaiting his return. I took a patterned cloth and hung it over a shelf. When he came, I met him at the door and said, "Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah. Praise be to Allah who honored you, supported you, and ennobled you." He looked at the house and saw the cloth, but he did not respond to me at all. I saw displeasure in his face. He pulled it until he tore it or cut it, then said, "Allah has not commanded us, in what He has provided us, to clothe clay and stones."' She said, 'So I cut it into two pieces and stuffed them with palm fiber, and he did not criticize me for that.'
