✧ I asked Ibn Abbas about green jars, white jars, and red jars. He said: The first to ask the Prophet ﷺ about this was the delegation of Abd al-Qays. He said: “Do not drink from gourds, vessels smeared with pitch, or hantam, and do not drink from jars. Drink from waterskins.” They said: What if it becomes strong in the waterskins? He said: “Even if it becomes strong in the waterskins, pour water on it.” They said: What if it becomes strong again? He said: “Then pour it out.” Then he said: “Allah, Mighty and Exalted, has forbidden me—or has forbidden—wine, gambling, and the kubah, and every intoxicant is forbidden.”
