✧ While I was standing over the clan, being the youngest of them in age, over my paternal uncles, a man came and said, 'Wine has been forbidden.' I was standing over them serving them from a fadikh (a beverage made from unripe and ripe dates) of theirs. They said, 'Spill it,' so I spilled it." I said to Anas, 'What is it?' He said, 'Unripe dates and ripe dates.' Abu Bakr b. Anas said, 'It was their wine that day,' and Anas b. Malik did not object to that.
