✧ There was a man of the Ansar called Abu Shu'ayb, and he had a slave who was a butcher. He saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and recognized hunger in his face. He said to his slave: Prepare for us food for five, for I intend to invite the Prophet ﷺ as the fifth of five. He said: So he prepared it. Then the Prophet ﷺ came as the fifth of five, and a man followed them. When he reached the door, the Prophet ﷺ said: “This man followed us, so if you wish, give him permission, and if you wish, he will return.” He said: Rather, I give him permission, O Messenger of Allah.

machine translationShuʿbah narrated it from al-Aʿmash, from Shaqīq, from Abū Masʿūd in the same way. Ibn Numayr contradicted him, (narrating) from al-Aʿmash, from Shaqīq, from Abū Masʿūd, from a man of the Anṣār called Abū Shuʿayb, so it became a report transmitted on the authority of Abū Shuʿayb. The view closer to correct is that of the one who transmitted it with a connected chain from Abū Masʿūd.
