  • Mubarakpūri

machine translationThe men of its chain are trustworthy (thiqāt), except that the ḥuffāẓ gave preference to its being mursal. Al-Tirmidhī recorded it from the hadith of al-Ḥasan from Samurah, and there is disagreement about whether al-Ḥasan heard from Samurah. Overall, it is a hadith fit to be used as evidence (ḥujjah).

  • Bazzār

machine translationThere is nothing in this chapter with a more distinguished chain of transmission than this one.

  • Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī

machine translationThe sound (ṣaḥīḥ) report in this hadith is from ʿIkrimah as mursal.

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationThe men of its chain are trustworthy (thiqāt), except that the ḥuffāẓ (memorizers) held it more likely to be mursal (with the Companion omitted from the chain).

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationIts men are trustworthy (thiqāt), except that there is disagreement about whether it is connected (mawṣūl) or mursal.

  • al-Bukhari

machine translationMore than one of them gave preference to its being mursal.

machine translationAs for the hadiths of prohibition, although each one of them is not free from criticism, they are established through three Companions: Samurah, Jābir b. Samurah and Ibn ʿAbbās, and some of them strengthen others. So they are stronger than a single hadith that is not free from criticism, namely the hadith of ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr.
