أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْقَطَّانُ بِالرَّقَّةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ عُتْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حِمْيَرٍ عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْغَافِرِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ
أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِتَمْرٍ بَرْنِيٍّ فَقَالَ مَا هَذَا؟ قَالَ اشْتَرَيْتُهُ صَاعًا بِصَاعَيْنِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَوَّهْ عَيْنُ الرِّبَا لَا تَفْعَلْ»

✧ A man brought the Messenger of Allah ﷺ some barni dates, and he said: What is this? He said: I bought it for a sa‘ for two sa‘s. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Oh! That is the essence of riba. Do not do it.”
