The Prophet ﷺ said to 'Ali, 'Write: This is what Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, has agreed upon.' Suhayl b. 'Amr said, 'If we knew that you were the Messenger of Allah, we would have followed you and not belied you. Write your lineage from your father.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to 'Ali, 'Write: Muhammad b. 'Abdullah.' He wrote: 'Whoever comes to you from us, we will return him to you, and whoever comes to us from you, we will leave him to you.' They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, should we grant them this?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever goes to them from us, may Allah distance him, and whoever comes to us from them and we return him, Allah will make for him a way out and an escape.'
