✧ Thaqīf took two men prisoner from among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, and the companions of the Prophet ﷺ took a man from Banū ʿĀmir b. Ṣaʿṣaʿah prisoner. He was brought before the Prophet ﷺ while he was bound, and he called out, “O Muḥammad, O Muḥammad!” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went to him and said, “For what am I being detained?” He said, “For the crime of your allies.” Then the Prophet ﷺ went on, and he called out to him, so the Prophet ﷺ went to him. The prisoner said to him, “I am a Muslim.” The Prophet ﷺ said, “If you had said it while you had control over your affair, you would have succeeded utterly.” Then the Prophet ﷺ went on, and he called out to him again, so he went to him and said, “I am hungry, so feed me.” The Prophet ﷺ said to him, “This is your need.” Then the Prophet ﷺ ransomed him with the two men whom Thaqīf had taken prisoner.
