✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ acquired spoils, he would command Bilāl, who would call out among the people three times. Then the people would come with their spoils, and he would take a fifth and divide them. Later, a man came to him with a rein made of hair and said, “O Messenger of Allah, this was among what we seized as spoils.” He said, “Did you not hear Bilāl call out three times?” He said, “Yes.” He said, “Then what prevented you from bringing it?” He offered an excuse, so he said ﷺ, “You will be the one to bring it on the Day of Resurrection, and I will not accept it from you.”
