✧ The spoils and their distribution

قَالَ الْوَلِيدُ فَذَكَرْتُهُ لِسَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الزُّهْرِيَّ يَذْكُرُ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ يُحَدِّثُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْعَاصِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَعَثَ سَرِيَّةً قِبَلَ نَجْدٍ عَلَيْهَا أَبَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ فَقَدِمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَعْدَ فَتْحِ خَيْبَرَ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَا تَقْسِمْ لَهُمْ فَغَضِبَ أَبَانُ وَنَالَ مِنْهُ قَالَ وَحَمَلَ عَلَيْهِ بِرُمْحِهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَهْلًا يَا أَبَانُ وَأَبَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَقْسِمَ لَهُمْ شَيْئًا

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a raiding party towards Najd under the command of Aban b. Sa'id b. al-'As. He arrived to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ after the conquest of Khaybar. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, do not divide for them.' Aban became angry and spoke against him. He said: 'And he charged at him with his spear.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Gently, O Aban.' And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ refused to divide anything for them.
