✧ The Exiting and the Methodology of Jihad

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ الْعَدَوِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ اللَّيْثِيُّ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ وَكَانَ مِنْ رَهْطِهِ قَالَ

بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ سَرِيَّةً فَسَلَّحَ رَجُلًا سَيْفًا فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفْنَا مَا رَأَيْتُ مِثْلَ مَا لَامَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «أَعَجَزْتُمْ إِذَا أَمَّرْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ رَجُلًا فَلَمْ يَمْضِ لِأَمْرِي الَّذِي أَمَرْتُ أَوْ نَهَيْتُ أَنْ تَجْعَلُوا مَكَانَهُ آخَرَ يُمْضِي أَمْرِي الَّذِي أَمَرْتُ؟ »

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent an expedition and armed a man with a sword. When we returned, I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ blame us as he did. He said, 'Were you unable, when I appointed a man over you and he did not carry out my command, whether I commanded or forbade, to put another in his place who would carry out my command?'
