✧ Among the hypocrites at the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, there were men who, when the Prophet ﷺ went out on a campaign and they stayed behind, rejoiced at their staying behind, contrary to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned, they made excuses to him, swore oaths, and loved to be praised for what they did not do. Then {Do not think that those who rejoice in what they have brought} was revealed.
