✧ The horses

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زُرَيْرٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ قَالَ

أُهْدِيَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَغْلَةٌ فَأَعْجَبَتْهُ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَوْ أَنْزَيْنَا الْحُمُرَ عَلَى خَيْلِنَا فَجَاءَتْ مِثْلَ هَذِهِ فَقَالَ «إِنَّمَا يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ»

✧ A mule was gifted to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and it pleased him. We said, 'O Messenger of Allah, if only we mated donkeys with our horses so they would produce something like this.' He said, 'Only those who do not know do that.'
