✧ Umar b. al-Khattab addressed us and said, "Indeed, do not be excessive in the dowries of women, for if it were a source of honor in this world or piety in the sight of Allah, Muhammad ﷺ would have been the foremost and most deserving of you in it. He never gave any of his wives or his daughters a dowry exceeding twelve uqiyyahs. And another thing you say: 'Whoever is killed in your battles, so-and-so died a martyr.' Do not say that, but say as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, or as Muhammad ﷺ said: 'Whoever is killed in the way of Allah or dies in the way of Allah is in Paradise.'"
