أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا قَيْسُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ قَيْسٍ الْمَأْرِبِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ بْنِ شَرَاحِيلَ عَنْ سُمَيِّ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ شُمَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَدَانِ عَنْ أَبْيَضَ بْنِ حَمَّالٍ
أَنَّهُ وَفْدَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَاسْتَقْطَعَهُ فَأَقْطَعَهُ الْمِلْحَ فَلَمَّا أَدْبَرَ قَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَتَدْرِي مَا أَقْطَعْتَهُ؟ إِنَّمَا أَقْطَعْتَهُ الْمَاءَ الْعِدَّ قَالَ فَرَجَعَ فِيهِ وَقَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَمَّا يُحْمَى مِنَ الْأَرَاكِ فَقَالَ «مَا لَمْ تَبْلُغْهُ أَخْفَافُ الْإِبِلِ»

✧ He came as a delegate to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him to grant him a piece of land. He granted him the salt land. When he turned away, a man said: O Messenger of Allah, do you know what you have granted him? You have granted him a perennial water source. So he took it back from him. He said: I asked him about what may be protected from the arak trees. He said: «What the feet of camels do not reach.»
