✧ A chapter on the oppression of the aggressors

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ

«لَا يَحِلُّ لِامْرَأَةٍ تُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ أَنْ تَحُدَّ عَلَى مَيِّتٍ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ إِلَّا عَلَى زَوْجٍ فَإِنَّهَا تَحُدُّ عَلَيْهِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا لَا تَكْتَحِلُ وَلَا تَلْبَسُ ثَوْبًا مَصْبُوغًا إِلَّا ثَوْبَ عَصْبٍ وَلَا تَمَسُّ طِيبًا إِلَّا عِنْدَ أَدْنَى طُهْرِهَا إِذَا اغْتَسَلَتْ مِنْ مَحِيضِهَا نُبْذَةَ قُسْطٍ وَأَظْفَارٍ»

✧ It is not lawful for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to mourn for a deceased person more than three days, except for a husband, for she mourns for him four months and ten days. She should not apply kohl, nor wear a dyed garment except a garment of `asb, nor touch perfume except at the least of her purification when she has bathed from her menses, a little of costus and azfar.
