✧ The right of parents

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو

أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَتَأْذَنُ لِي فِي الْجِهَادِ قَالَ «أَلَكَ وَالِدَانِ»؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «اذْهَبْ فَبِرَّهُمَا» فَذَهَبَ وَهُوَ يتخلَّل الرِّكَابَ

Translation

✧ A man said, "O Messenger of Allah, do you permit me to go on jihad?" He said, "Do you have parents?" He said, "Yes." He said, "Go and be dutiful to them." So he went, threading his way through the riding camels.
