✧ That a man came to him and asked him about a man who married a woman and then died before consummating the marriage and before stipulating a dower. He did not say anything and turned them away for a month, then he said, "I will speak according to my own opinion. If it is correct, it is from Allah; if it is wrong, it is from me. I think she should have a dower like that of her peers, without reduction or excess, she must observe the waiting period, and she inherits." So-and-so al-Ashja'i stood up and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled in the case of Birwa' bt. Washiq exactly like that." He said: 'Abdullah rejoiced at that and said, "Allahu Akbar."
