أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى السَّخْتِيَانِيُّ بِجَرْجَانَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ الْقُطَيْعِيُّ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْفَزَارِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ كَيْسَانَ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنِّي تَزَوَّجْتُ امْرَأَةً فَقَالَ «كَمْ أَصْدَقْتَهَا» فَقَالَ أَرْبَعَ أَوَاقٍ فَقَالَ ﷺ «أَرْبَعَ أَوَاقٍ كَأَنَّمَا تَنْحِتُونَ الْفِضَّةَ مِنْ عَرَضِ هَذَا الْجَبَلِ»

✧ A man came to the Messenger of Allahﷺ and said, "I have married a woman." He asked, "How much did you give as mahr (dowry)?" The man replied, "Four awqiya (a measurement of weight)." The Prophetﷺ said, "Four awqiya, it is as if you are carving silver from the width of this mountain."
