كَانَتْ أُخْتُهُ تَحْتَ رَجُلٍ فَطَلَّقَهَا ثُمَّ خَلَّى عَنْهَا حَتَّى انْقَضَتْ عِدَّتُهَا ثُمَّ قَرَّبَ يَخْطُبُهَا فَحَمِيَ مَعْقِلٌ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَقَالَ خَلَّى عَنْهَا وَهُوَ يَقْدِرُ عَلَيْهَا فَحَالَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهَا فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ {وَإِذَا طَلَّقْتُمِ النِّسَاءَ فَبَلَغْنَ أَجَلَهُنَّ فَلَا تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ أَنْ يَنْكِحْنَ أَزْوَاجَهُنَّ إِذَا تَرَاضَوْا بَيْنَهُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ}

✧ His sister was married to a man who divorced her, then he left her alone until her waiting period ended, then he came to propose to her. Ma'qil became angry about that and said, "He left her alone while he was capable of her," and he prevented him from her. Then Allah revealed: {When you divorce women and they reach their term, do not prevent them from marrying their husbands when they agree among themselves with what is fair}.
