✧ I sat with Ka‘b b. ‘Ujrah and asked him about the saying of Allah, Mighty and Exalted: {A ransom of fasting, or charity, or sacrifice}. He said: I was carried to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while lice were falling on my face. He said, “I did not think that hardship had reached you to the extent I see. Can you find a sheep?” I said, “No.” He said, “Then fast three days, or feed six poor persons, for each poor person half a sa‘.” He said: It was revealed concerning me specifically, but it is for you all generally.
